We both work half day Fridays, which lets us start our weekend early. Today we popped into a place that we hadn’t tried before. The Counter is a burger joint with a good assortment of beer. The decor is quite generic, and almost sterile, but they have good bar area seating with 2 TVs which works well for football season.

Today we started with The Fifty-Fifty which is half sweet potato fries and half crispy onion strings. It is served with three sauces for dipping including their BBQ sauce which was great with the thin onion strings. Fries were cooked perfectly, on the edge of crispy and not greasy. The onion strings were good, but a bit greasy.

Of all the beer choices, Jeff had a Stone Brewing Company Arrogant Bastard. It is one of his favorite beers with a woody, cherry start and a dark malty composition. Pam grabbed a local Karbach Weisse Versa Wheat which is great beer with sweet citrus, front and center.

At The Counter, you have the option of ordering off the menus or creating your own burger with the following choices: 12 varieties of cheese 4 free toppings ($0.50 each additional): 22 options Premium toppings ($1.00 each): 9 options 22 sauces 5 types of buns

Pam went with 1/3 lb beef on multigrain bun with Tillamook cheddar, baby spinach, grilled pineapple, hard boiled egg, sauted onions, applewood smoked bacon with Russian dressing on half and sweet bbq sauce on the other half. It may sound odd, but it was excellent!

Jeff decided on 1/3 lb beef on an onion bun with blue cheese, caramelized onions, rosted green peppers, applewood smoked bacon with a garlic aioli. It was a great combo of flavors.

Our burgers were cooked medium, which is their standard, but you can request other temperatures. We both enjoyed our burgers which were quite filling. Overall, The Counter is a great burger place with a good beer selection. We will be back when our cholesterol levels go back down.
