Today, we hit the Petrol Station, a place known for its beer selection and burgers. We arrived shortly after they opened and there was a Crossfit event down the street. Talk about making us feel guilty for heading in for a burger! But it didn’t stop us!
There is plenty of seating on their patio, with limited tables inside. We decided to belly up to the bar area so that we could get a better look at their operation.
They have a beer list that rotates frequently, with the taps along the walls and the door to the large walk-in fridge. The staff is quite knowledgable about the beers, so once Pam described what she likes, they chose a perfect pilsner for her. I also took their recommendations, and it did not disappoint. The picture below shows the beer selection during our visit.
We then ordered the scotch eggs, which were well executed for a place that looks like a dive. The eggs were perfect, just slightly runny, and was surrounded by flavorful sausage and crispy breading.
Next we split the Rancor burger. It is cooked medium with bacon, cheddar cheese, bacon and a fried egg. It is definitely worth a visit to try this burger! We were very glad we decided to split it since neither of us finished our halves of the burger or fries that accompany it.
This place is a great neighborhood hangout, but worth the drive if you are not from the area. It didn’t hurt that we ran into a few friends while there!
Go grab a burger and hang out! The bar is a good place to hang, and the patio is a great place to chill.
