Frank’s Americana Revival

Date Visited: Monday, December 24, 2012

Ok, sorry for the delay adding to our posts…the start of the new year has been hectic to say the least!

After church on Christmas Eve we hit a new place with Pam’s parents.  It used to be Frank’s Chop House, but they have new owners and a new name:  Frank’s Americana Revival

To start, we ordered Ahi Tuna Tartare and House Smoked Salmon.  The tuna was served with avocado, jalapeno and waffle chips.  It was a nice, flavorful dish with just the right amount of jalapeño.  The salmon was delicious, perfectly smoked and flaky.  It was served with toasted baguette, capers, red onion and dill creme fraiche

Pam and Jeff each ordered the Oyster Stew ~ delicious with tons of oysters.  Pam’s parents ordered the Creole Gumbo of the day which is made with a great dark roux and was flavorful.  It reminded them of the gumbo Joe’s grandmother used to make.

Jeff ordered Roasted Pork Shoulder with green apple risotto, blue cheese and pan jus.  The roasted pork shoulder was tender and flavorful, and the blue cheese added a nice dimension.

Pam ordered the 6 oz. filet which was spiced up with blue cheese butter.  She enjoyed the steak and it was perfectly cooked.

The youngest at the table, our 7 year old daughter, had the crab cake (from the appetizer menu) with a side of smoked gouda mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was creamy, and so yummy that she was not willing to share!  The crab cake was full of crab meat and tender.

Pam’s mom ordered the Grilled Atlantic Salmon which was flaky and moist, cooked to perfection.  It was served with a cauliflower puree (mashed potato consistency) and roasted market vegetables.

Pam’s dad ordered the Fried Gulf Shrimp and Oyster Platter which is served with remoulade slaw, but he substituted the smoked gouda mac and cheese for the shoestring fries.  He also was not willing to share the mac and cheese, so I guess we can claim that it was very good.

All in all this place was great and the ownership is friendly and welcoming.  We couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas Eve meal.
