Glass Wall The Restaurant – CLOSED

Date Visited: Monday, November 26, 2012

We decided to hit Glass Wall for the first time which is the creation of Shepard Ross. We started at the bar with a few extra dirty, extra dry Vodka martinis. We paired them with their deviled egg BLT sliders. They were great and a interesting combination of sandwich and deviled egg.

We moved to our table and ordered a couple of glasses of wine. Pam had the Barboursville Viognier, a medium bodied wine with florals, spice and a hint of butter. Jeff ordered the Molly Dooker, Blue Eyed Boy. It is a nice shiraz with fresh fruit and coffee.

We combined the wine with Jumbo Blue Crab Fingers that were served with roasted garlic, roma tomatoes, yucca root cake and beurre blanc. They were cooked perfectly and the unexpected yucca root cake was fantastic.

We also ordered GW Baked Oysters topped with jumbo lump blue crab, green onions and truffled hollandaise. These were also fantastic and are on our list for next time too.

After the two delicious wines with the appetizers, we selected two more to try. Jeff had the Frank Family Cabernet that has nice flavors and aromas of leather and cedar topped with black cherry. Pam ordered Sparkman Cellars Wilderness which is a great and interesting blend of cherry, chocolate and earth.

For dinner, Pam ordered the Six Point Berkshire Pork Chop. It is finished with Jorge’s rub and paired with caramelized brussel sprouts, whipped mapled sweet potato and a black mission fig demi glacé. It was well prepared and the brussel sprouts were great.

Jeff ordered the Corn Flake Chicken Fried Steak paired with all the way smashers, corn bread and smoky bacon gravy. It was very good but did not live up to what we had been told. The fried steak had a great flavor, but the breading did not stick to the steak and it was a bit soggy. The smashers were great, and bacon gravy would make a car tire taste good.

Glass Wall is another place we will visit again. The staff is nice and the menu looks great, so we will sample more soon!
