We decided to make a quick stop at a bar that is still in its soft opening phase. The Refinery on West Dallas, just outside of downtown Houston, is a fun hangout decorated with oil and gas memorabilia. For when it cools down, there is also a nice porch.

We sat at the bar, watched football / NASCAR and made a few new friends.

Pam became addicted to the Jack Daniels and Diet Coke slushie, while I tried a few beers from their selection of a dozen or so drafts. We will be back to try the food that looked good, including burgers, fried pickles and other pub-type appetizers.

The Refinery has its grand opening next weekend, September 8th. Give it shot.
