Smith and Wollensky Steakhouse

Date Visited:  Saturday, January 19, 2013

We started the dinner with a few appetizers.  The Beef Carpaccio served on a Himalayan salt block is delicious USDA Prime thinly sliced sirloin.  Our only issue is that the beef is sliced too thick, so the portion seemed a bit small.

Next we moved on to the Crab Cake served with cognac mustard & ginger sauces.  This is a wonderful example of a crab cake, with lots of crab and little filler.  The flavors are great and left us wanting more.

We both ordered charbroiled Filet Mignons ~ Pam got the 10oz and Jeff jumped in for the 14oz.  While Pam ordered hers Medium Rare, Jeff went a bit more aggressive and ordered it Rare.  Both steaks arrived perfectly cooked and were delicious.  Along with the steaks, we ordered Butternut Squash with Spinach & Bleu Cheese Fondue.  It was perfect and the Blue Cheese is a great addition to this dish.  We also got the standard Roasted Wild Mushrooms, something we can’t pass up.

Smith and Wollensky is a good choice for steak, and the service is always top notch.
